forest exploration shirt

Well, instead of doing a big knitting post like I've probably been planning for a week or two, I'll post the bit that I've got done. Now that I've done one set of rows on the shirt and can post my corrected pattern for the world, I'll force myself to finish the other two projects.

I've been working on Patti Waters' Branched Tee. This was my first time doing cables so I blindly followed the pattern for eight rows, then wondered why it was looking like garter stitch and reverse garter stitch with random patches of stockinette. Last Saturday morning I lay in bed thinking about it, got up and drew a picture of how it was supposed to come out based on the pattern, and figured out what was wrong. I let the designer know about it, and on the PDF at least she's fixed all the WS rows that say purl where you should knit and vice versa, but a couple rows are still backwards. (I let her know this in the first email, and something is telling me that I would be too much of a pain to her and to myself to email her again... someone else can do it.) I've made my own version of the pattern, writing each row down immediately before I knit it, so it's good:

Set up row (RS): p2 k1 p2 k1 p5
Row 1 (WS): k5 p1 k2 p1 k2
Row 2 (RS): p2 C1L C1R p5
Row 3: k6 p2 k3
Row 4: p3 C1L p3 k1 p2
Row 5: k2 p1 k3 p1 k4
Row 6: p4 C1L p2 k1 p2
Row 7: k2 p1 k2 p1 k5
Row 8: p5 C1L C1R p2
Row 9: k3 p2 k6
Row 10: p2 k1 p3 C1R p3
Row 11: k4 p1 k3 p1 k2
Row 12: p2 k1 p2 C1R p4
