What's an androgynous person to do at a wedding? (Or if -10 is female and +10 is male, I'm like a -5.) I've got this very pretty dress but now my mom has the silly notion that I should shave my legs or wear nylons. I suppose if I need to comply entirely with a gender norm, I would look good in a tux, but I was pretty excited about the dress. Bare legs are nice in the summer, and I thought in the photo of me in the dress the leg hair didn't stand out or take away from the overall look.
Not shaving my legs is definitely a "this is who I am and this is what feels right" sort of thing for me and not an "I'm lazy and I don't care" thing. The vast majority of people do not seem to have a problem with it. I am kind of hurt that my mom still has this attitude about it despite making a point to tell me a couple years ago that she still loves me even though I don't shave my legs.
