Being almost committed to something but not 100%. Expressing this level of commitment to two different people. One interprets as non-committal, other interprets as 100% committed. Person #1 is upset that I supposedly told person #2 of my commitment first.

My stoic Mainer sense of honesty makes me feel incredibly guilty and makes me apologize repeatedly. And now I realize that this makes it difficult for me to take it back and say, "Actually, I told you both the same thing."

Boo to the bad economy creating less research funding and hence more grad student competition for teaching positions.

Should avoid emailing anyone about this until I've gotten some sleep.
